Cretian (Minotaurs) Infantry Equipment Set Available Now

Another infantry equipment set is now available. Containing shield and handle, Cretian style sword and scabbard and a long trident, this set is ideal for building up models with an ancient Greek theme. The Minotaur head on the shield is sculpted on, but would be simple enough to file back if a plain shield was wanted. To assemble this kit you'll need a soft sanding stick or fine (600 and 1200 grit) emery papers to clean up the casting channels from the trident points.
This kit is provided unpainted and unassembled. Scenic items are not included.
Pricing is £3.00 per set plus P&P from me directly - contact enquiries@winterdyne.co.uk or you can buy from ebay here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170841625201, where the pricing per set includes P&P and all fees, so is a little higher.

Spartan Equipment Kit available now!

Our first accessory kit is now available - the Spartan infantry Equipment kit.

The kit comprises a one-part long thrusting spear, a two-part shield (handle and shield) and a Lakonian style shortsword and scabbard. The spear is exactly the same design as used on the Sanguinary Phalanx commission.

The kit is priced at £3.00 per set plus P&P direct from us and is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Terrain also not included. You can order by emailing us directly on enquiries@winterdyne.co.uk.

Alternatively, we've also listed it on eBay here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170841621690
The listing there includes postage and all relevant fees, so the price is significantly higher.

The kit is cast in high quality, reasonably flexible resin, so the spear staff shouldn't snap unless treated roughly. As ever you can click the images for a larger view.

Just a quick note to say I'm away until the 26th of February. It's wedding anniversary time. Yeesh, this year's gone quick.

Urban Basing Kit Now Available

Having been asked a few times about how I do my urban basing scheme, I've put together this kit, which you can now order through eBay (find us here: http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/winterdynecommissionmodelling) for £4.25, including postage. Currently I have stock of 'Spring Mix' static grass, but I will be offering a range of varieties, so if you want something different, just let me know. Generally the static grass is used very sparingly so a quite strong colour often works better than something too subtle. If it doesn't the usual technique is to knock it back with a wash or dusting of pigment powder.
The images below show models I've done with exactly the materials in this kit. As usual, click any of the images for a larger view.

Chris Straw Joins WCM - Showcase

I'm very pleased to introduce Chris Straw to our clients and blog followers. Chris is available for painting and sculpting commissions, and has previously done work for both Mantic Games and Games Workshop. Some rather nice examples of his work are shown here. As ever, you can click the images for larger views.
Chris is interested in a varied workload, aimed at higher end tabletop and above. This falls in line with our standard services, perhaps with a few additional characters to test him.

More Finecast Fun...

It's probably wise to draw our readers attention to this. I make no apologies for the language used in the linked blog post, I'd swear too under those circumstances. I guess this particularly affects those of us in warm countries, although it's been hitting 30 Celcius in the conservatory where I work.

http://thefrontlinegamer.blogspot.com/2011/06/dont-leave-finecast-in-sun.html

On a secondary note, I received a replacement Captain Stern this morning. Also miscast with bubbles knocking off the corner of the cloak, heels and top portion of the bolter. Warping / mould slippage is less noticeable, though the lens on the armour is still off-circular, and will need resculpting. Nice one, GW. I've asked for another replacement. At this rate I will have a half-dozen Sterns, all of which needing varying amounts of work.

Citadel Finecast Captain Stern Review Plog WIP (1)

The fixes I've done so far. Probably will be more surfacing to do once it's primed.

Non-EU client notification - business as usual.

Just a quick snippet really - as we are not a trade account holder with GW we're free to order miniatures used for commissions from any of the UK discount retailers such as Wayland and Maelstrom, and pass on those savings to our clients. In some situations the saving from doing this can now be substantial.

Our one caveat is that we must do a commission based on at least one of the miniatures that we order on your behalf. You can of course order more, (paying in advance for them) and we'll post them along with your commissioned piece.

Tom in NEW YORK 'til the 6th March

Another one of us hopping over to the other side of the pond!
I will be in New York from tonight until the 6th of March on a Uni trip. I have got 20 more Elysians painted (10 drop troops and 10 shotgun vets), just some minor details to finish. I will finish them up and get photos of them up when I get back including a group shot of the 35 finished models. I just thought I'd update my progress.

News: Maz away for 2 weeks...

Tonight I'm heading down to Gatwick with my fiancee for a flight to Las Vegas to get married and do the honeymoon thing for a week or so - with no kids in tow, this should be awesome! Elvis, pink Cadillacs, tuxedos and gambling. Tackier than a bottle of scatter grip, and three times the fun.

I'll be back to work in around 2 weeks (allowing a few days to recover). In the meanwhile, any updates to the blog will be done by the relevant artists. Emails to us will be answered and dealt with on my return.

George Dellapina's Ork Gargant Assembly Site

This set is now SOLD.

The set consists of six separately based terrain pieces, mounted on 6mm MDF, all painted to an incredibly high standard. Click the images for larger versions as usual.

There is an extremely high level of detail throughout the pieces - with various tools and equipment lying around. Every raised platform has an appropriate ladder to reach it so the whole set 'makes sense'. Little toadstools are present on the bases of many of the pieces to give the set that fungal ork look.

George is now available for commissions and is particularly interested in taking on scratch build and sculpting projects and can be contacted through this site. High end painting jobs are also considered. If you like his style, drop us an email.
