Shoulder pad detail sculpts by Chris Straw

A quick job by Chris Straw to sculpt insignia discs and laurel wreaths onto some Forge World Tartaros pattern Terminator shoulder pads. These will be sent as-is to the client.

Bushido Commission completed

 

Chris has completed the Bushido commision now. These pictures are of the varnished, ready product. I've not really had the time to retake the previous pics to a good enough standard (really need to get a decent photo studio set up), but they're all the same finish (Windsor & Newton Galleria Satin). I find this is about the nicest general-purpose varnish; keeps the colour saturation up and isn't too glossy. I think the Samurai above is one of my favourite ever miniatures. Bushido Commission WIP

 

A collection of Bushido miniatures painted by Chris Straw. As usual we've er, pushed (yes I think that makes it sound deliberate) the bounds of tabletop level work; we don't let stuff out that we wouldn't be happy to put on a table ourselves. There's another few miniatures to go on this job before I (Maz) finish off the photography and varnishing...

Chris and George win (twice) in GW painting competition

Dreadfleet Set

On Friday, Chris and George handed over some of the Dreadfleet set they're working on for me to photograph. The pieces shown are finished, but will be rephotographed with the complete set when it's all done. This is what we term extremely high end work, bordering on Competition grade, coming in at around £2500 for the complete set. As you can see though, the quality really is superb.

Chris Straw Joins WCM - Showcase

I'm very pleased to introduce Chris Straw to our clients and blog followers. Chris is available for painting and sculpting commissions, and has previously done work for both Mantic Games and Games Workshop. Some rather nice examples of his work are shown here. Chris is interested in a varied workload, aimed at higher end tabletop and above. This falls in line with our standard services, perhaps with a few additional characters to test him.
